Tuckman's 5 stages of team development

Tuckman's 5 stages of team development is a model that describes the five stages that teams typically go through as they develop: forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjourning.

Forming: The team is brought together and is in the process of getting to know each other. They are usually polite and cautious.

Storming: The team starts to experience conflicts and power struggles as they begin to work together. This can be a difficult stage, but it is necessary for the team to work through these issues in order to move forward.

Norming: The team begins to resolve their conflicts and establish a sense of cohesion. They start to work together and support each other.

Performing: The team is now fully functional and productive. They work together effectively, trust each other, and have a sense of common purpose.

Adjourning: The team finishes the project and disbands. This stage can be difficult as team members may feel a sense of loss as they say goodbye to each other.
